About Us

Picture
We are from 'Chhipa' community with ancestral roots tracing back to Rajasthan, India. We are found in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana and other parts of India. There are Chhipa in Pakistan as well as Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and other parts of the world.

According to another belief the word chhipa is derived from the word 'Chhapa', which means to Print. The community was originally found in Nagor, Rajasthan. After our settlement in Rajasthan and Gujarat, the community took up the occupation of dyeing and printing clothes. We mainly speak Marwari among ourselves as well as the language of the State we live in.
According to the “Balwa Pothy”, a traditional account of the Chhipa community, we came from Jaisalmer and initially settled in Nagor. In the Samvat Year 1291, when Firozshah Taghlakh was on the throne of Delhi, we adopted Islam in Nagor sharif. Our  community is still mainly involved in its traditional occupation of dyeing and printing clothes. Many of our  community have taken up other trades as well.
